Just picked up some Infinity 4 and 5.25" speakers for the AE86. Spent way more than I wanted to. Oh well, these speakers kick ass. I compared them against Panasonic and Alpine and these Infinitys blew everything out of the water. Can't wait to get them in the car so I can listen to the Panasonic CD/MP3 player and do it some justice!

Monday I removed more interior so I could remove the carpeting. Got the front and rear seats and center console out so I could remove the carpeting... Holy hell, you should see what was under the rear seat. It was horrid. Looks like a bag of candy spilled back there then later a soda spilled - which then melted everything together... including hair bands, USED Q-TIPS, and about $5 in loose change. Criminy.

So then I get a lot of that cleaned up and take out the mid-section carpeting (under the driver's seat and the left rear foot area) only to reveal the horror that was left from the clutch leak. The clutch fluid that leaked under the carpeting melted the tar-type sound deadening material into this nappy goo that seeped up throughout the cotton-type sound deadening material. Did I mention that it was horrid?

And that's just 1/4 of it all. I'm dreading what it's going to be like under the driver's footwell. At least the rest of it after that should be pretty tolerable.

Oh, I took some pictures just to show how ridiculously nappy this has been. I just need to get them off my friend's digicam now. I'll post them later.

Oh yeah, on Labor Day, I went by Little Tokyo and picked up a sweet new Broadway mirror. It has a clear blue frame and the mirror is tinted blue to cut down on glare. A perfect fit for the AE86. =D

Well, I got to work on the AE86 a little bit today. Only to figure out that I can't tell where the #*$ing headlight relay is. Hopefully the Bumdeedner can help out again. I DID however figure out why the dome light hadn't been working. I originally just figured that it was part of the electrical short... but that wasn't the case. It just turns out that the switch contacts in the dome light were really REALLY dirty. So much so that I could only clean the "on" position enough to get it to work. The "door" position still doesn't work. It really doesn't matter anyway... the whole thing is all old and crappy looking. I'm just going to get a new one.

I also got a chance to replace all the interior lights with the Polarg Hyper White lights. 5 in the instrument cluster and the dome light bulb. There are probably more that I'm forgetting, but I won't be able to tell until I get this electrical short figured out.

Oh, I also updated the Wish List. I changed which pedals I want to get. They're a new version of the ones I already planned on getting. Check it out...

Ok, lots of stuff I've been forgetting to post, so here goes...

Well, I was too excited to enter it into the blog till today... On Saturday I installed the Panasonic CD/MP3 player in the AE86. All I can say is... WOW. When I first powered it on, the display left me speechless. It's the coolest thing I've ever seen. It'll absolutely MAKE the blue theme come together on the inside of the car.

The carbon fiber hood is taking forever to get here. It was supposed to be in before the weekend of August 24th so I could go pick it up when I was down in Orange County with a U-Haul. But here it is Tuesday, September 2nd now and it's still not here. The guy said it'd probably be here "probably on Wednesday (the 3rd)." BAH. Now I have no way of picking it up. Grrr...

Another thing I've forgotten to mention is that a while back, Gabriel from T3 needed a favor. He was looking to make hub extensions for those crappy short Momo hubs. But Gabe didn't have a Momo steering wheel and hub to use as a pattern. I told him that I had just the thing. So I sent him my hub and steering wheel and a few days later, I got my hub and wheel back along with a shiny new hub extension. It's nice looking. I'll have to get a picture of it and post it.

Slowly but surely, I've been working on another interior project. I'm going to replace all the interior lighting with Polarg Hyper White (blueish white color) bulbs. I ordered 3 pairs of 194 (instrumentation) bulbs and a dome light. Today I received the last of the bulbs I ordered, but I haven't had a chance to install them all.

I was going to work on the Corolla a bit today, but work decimated me. I came home very tired and worn out. On top of that, at about 4 o'clock, the weather suddenly turned very cloudy and humid on top of all the heat. Definitely not good weather to work in - especially after working in the heat all day.

I'm going to bed now. I'm beat.
