Hahaha... the funniest thing just happened... The doorbell rang and standing at the door was this guy, probably in his early 20s. I didn't recognize him, but he had a big grin on his face. I ask him if I could help him and he says, "is that your AE86 out front?!" And I notice that parked behind him is a very VERY decked-out WRX. Just about everyone in Bakersfield has seen this thing around town. Very very nice. I later found out that he had over $10K in mods on it.

Basically, he's selling his WRX because he's getting an AE86 in the next few weeks. This guy was all excited. He said, "oh man, I have a bazillion questions for you!" Once I started talking to him about it, it turned out that he wasn't just some Initial-D crazed noobie drift boy. He and his dad own a local auto parts store and he has a good grasp of autos and racing in general.

So, I'm looking forward to helping him out and getting a little drift community going here in Bakersfield.

Well, of course a bunch of stuff happened while the website was down. At the end of January, I picked up a low-mileage 1990 240SX coupe to drive while the AE86 is down. It's a lot of fun and I'll be redesigning the website to accomodate my having 2 drift cars. Look for driftproject.ae86links.com to come out soon. I hope. =)

On Saturday (Valentine's Day, no less), I spent the entire day putting in new KYB GR-2 shocks and some cheapo SpringTech lowering springs. It brought the car down about 1.9 inches and makes it look SO much better. They're a little softer than I'd like, but the handling is a lot better. Hopefully next weekend I'll put in the T3 subframe bushing collars.
