Ok, here it is two weeks later, and I'm just now getting off the phone with the insurance agency. Apparently my contact information was never given to State Farm, so they couldn't contact me. Whatever. My phone numbers and mailing address were both on the police report that they had on file. So now they need to contact Mr. Sparks (the guy who hit my car) and get his side of the story. Just fix my damn car! How could hitting a parked car be anything but the driver's fault? GAH.

Poor car will probably get a salvage title. I noticed that the front passenger side wheel is moved backwards about .75"... so lots of stuff needs to be replaced. Bumper, fender, the subframe probably needs to be straightened out, suspension stuff, rear passenger side taillight... *sigh*

The damn car got hit.

I was parked at Brandi's and I was in her living room chatting away when we both heard a screech of tires and a big crash followed by more screeching. Somehow I just KNEW that it wasn't an accident on the street but someone had just hit my car. I ran outside and my car was up on the sidewalk with a big late 80s/early 90s Mercedes SEL 500 pulling over to the side of the street. My car has quite a bit of front fender damage along with damage to the rear bumper. It looks like he hit the front fender first which popped the front of the car up onto the sidewalk and the rear of the car outward into the street so the Mercedes ended up barely smacking the rear bumper as he passed by. There was damage to his front headlight, bumper, and minor damage down the side of his car.

The jackass said he was swerving to avoid someone that was pulling out of the nearby parking lot. First of all, there were witnesses that said there was no car leaving. Secondly, the guy couldn't come up with any details and seemed to be making stuff up as he went along. Thirdly, the entrance to the parking lot was way ahead of where he had to start swerving in order to hit my car. I think he was just fiddling with his cel phone or the radio or something. The car is registered to his work - some real estate office - but he didn't have the insurance paperwork with him at the moment.

Anyway, the police are involved and they're keeping track of the situation. It seems that it'll EVENTUALLY work out okay, but we'll see.
