| W00t! The other day I finally received my retractable rear seat belts that I bought on eBay. Finally! No more screwing around with that retarded non-retractable, removable shoulder belt. What was Nissan smoking when they thought that was a good idea? |

Yesterday I went out with my drifting sensei David. He's the one that got me into all this way back in 1996/97. He took me out to this spot he found... which would have been a lot of fun except for a few things. It was basically a rough dirt road that got dirt in everywhere it could possibly get. By the time we were done, all my engine belts were squealing, the brakes sounded awful, and the interior was filthy despite the windows being rolled up. The other thing was that without an LSD, a lot of the stuff we were trying to do ended up being lame. Can't really do donuts very well without one. Once the initial turn-in momentum was dead, the inside tire would just start slipping and the ride is basically over then. I need an LSD for that car.
Oh, and a follow-up on my last post about the interior:
While attempting to clean up the car, I noticed that the insert in the passenger door was really starting to peel. I didn't know what was underneath it, but I decided to pull the fabric up a little bit to see what it was covering. Lo and behold, the panel is just like the rest of the door. It was beautiful black. I cleaned it up a bit and it looked black and textured just like the rest of the door - and just like the rear panel inserts! The only draw back is that there are a few tiny holes in the front and rear corner of the insert. A little black vinyl repair will fill those holes nicely and no one will be the wiser.
The good thing about this is that it means I will have a MUCH easier time executing my color scheme plans with the door panels being vinyl instead of fabric. I'm going to pull the other insert fabric off today, clean it up nicely and get ready to paint it probably after the 4th of July. |

dmg0003: Man... I should paint all the interior bits the same orange/red/yellow mixture in my Nissan to match the Driftproject banner. HAR
inkbit: yeah that would be tight
dmg0003: and if it sucks, I'll just get the aluminum dash trim kit like I originally planned.
dmg0003: looking at this one pic, it hit me... that doing the orange/red theme would actually make the stock turn signals and side markers look cool.
inkbit: the seats with tose colors would be sick to
dmg0003: YEAH.
dmg0003: get aftermarket ones and dye the fabric
dmg0003: like black with the orange down the center
inkbit: like the pipeing
dmg0003: GROSS!! This is going to be so cool!!
dmg0003: ooh... that too..
inkbit: yeah the ribbing too
inkbit: sick
dmg0003: I'm going to put that in my blog so I don't forget. hahaha |

Oh man, so much has been going on that I haven't had time to write it all down. I went up to visit Gabe with TechnoToyTuning over the weekend of the 12th. While I was up there, I got to do a little work on the AE86. But after I was done with that, he saw my banged up 240sx and decided we needed to fix that. He has an S13 project car that's going to get a Silvia conversion. So I did him the favor of removing the 2 fenders and bumper and I got to replace my bashed up fender and bumper with them! He even painted them black for me. It's good to have friends.
I've been sitting on all the audio equipment that's supposed to go into the S13 too. I have the replacement speakers and amp and they're just sitting in my room. One of these days I'll get around to installing them. I've just been so busy!
I've also been going out with the small local drift crew at nights. At first I was bummed because the S13 doesn't have an LSD. But after a few nights of running with them, I've learned to just control the weight transfer well enough that I can drift just by jerking the car around. No need to shift lock or overpower it to initiate the slide. So that's been pretty fun. =) I haven't been able to go out with them in a while because I've been travelling on the weekends and last weekend was Father's Day... so I've been busy. |

The lap belt on the driver's side never latched quite right. I think I got it to stay latched twice since I've bought the car. Then, as I was falling asleep for a nap, I remembered that I have a red Schroth Rallye 3 racing harness from the AE86 that I'm not using. So after the nap, I put in the harness.
I also finally got around to swapping out the old jacked up taillights for nice shiny ones I got from the FreshAlloy.com classifieds.
I also got some Infinity replacement speakers and a cheapy amp. I'll finally have some tunes once I get around to installing them. I'd like to also put an RCA cable source switch between the head deck and the equalizer. That way I can plug in my little MP3 player when I feel like it. |
